Piston rings definition

The Piston Ring is a metal ring that fits inside the piston groove. There are two types of piston rings: the compression ring and the oil ring. The compression ring can be used to seal the combustible mixture in the combustion chamber; the oil ring is used to scrape excess oil from the cylinder.

The piston ring is a metal elastic ring with a large outwardly expanding deformation that is fitted into the section and its corresponding annular groove. The reciprocating and rotationally moving piston rings rely on the pressure difference of the gas or liquid to form a seal between the outer circumferential surface of the ring and the cylinder and one side of the ring and the annular groove.

Piston rings are widely used in various power machines, such as steam engines, diesel engines, gasoline engines, compressors, hydraulic machines, etc., and are widely used in automobiles, trains, ships, yachts, etc. Generally, the piston ring is installed in the ring groove of the piston, and it is composed of a piston, a cylinder sleeve, a cylinder head and the like to form a working chamber.

Piston

The piston is a reciprocating mechanism in the cylinder block of an automobile engine. The basic structure of the piston can be divided into a top, a head and a skirt. The top of the piston is the main part of the combustion chamber and its shape is related to the type of combustion chamber chosen. Gasoline engines mostly use flat-topped pistons, which have the advantage of a small heat absorption area. Diesel piston tops often have a variety of dimples, the specific shape, location and size of which must be compatible with the diesel engine's gas mixture formation and combustion requirements.

Cylinder liner

The cylinder liner is the abbreviation of the cylinder liner. It is embedded in the cylinder of the cylinder and forms a combustion chamber together with the piston and the cylinder head.

The cylinder liner is divided into two categories: dry cylinder sleeve and wet cylinder sleeve. The cylinder liner that does not touch the cooling water on the back is called the dry cylinder liner, and the cylinder liner that is in contact with the cooling water on the back is the wet cylinder liner. The dry cylinder liner has a thin thickness, a simple structure and convenient processing. The wet cylinder sleeve is in direct contact with the cooling water, so it is beneficial to the cooling of the engine and is advantageous for the small size and weight of the engine.
